Jim here, folks, and Games Workshop just dropped a double reveal: two classic Star Players, Ripper Bolgrot and Fungus the Loon, are getting new plastic miniatures, arriving on pre-order “soon” alongside the new Night Goblins team.
The troll who reads the playbook. Ripper Bolgrot was once considered dense even by troll standards. Then came a mysterious spell of “sports therapy”, and he came back studying the game and feeding his coach strategy. Don’t panic, Bob: when the plan runs out, he still goes through people. He’s a free agent, hopping between teams in pursuit of a Blood Bowl Winner’s Medal.
His special rule, Thinking Man’s Troll: once per half, Ripper may re-roll one die rolled as a single die or as part of a multiple dice pool — but never a die from an Armour, Injury or Casualty roll. Brains, yes. Mercy, no.
The loon on a chain. Fungus the Loon is a Night Goblin Fanatic, chained to his ball and pointed vaguely at the pitch. His spinning is lethal to opponents… and to the front rows. Night Goblin teams still fight to hire him. Spectators: 3 seconds of silence. Done.
His special rule, Whirling Dervish: once per activation, Fungus may re-roll the D6 that decides which direction he moves. Nuffle still chooses — Fungus just gets to ask twice.
